David Ruffley MP on Stowmarket Walkabout celebrating creation of 250 Jobs

Friday, 20 January, 2012

David Ruffley MP will conduct a Stowmarket Town Centre Walkabout to see first-hand how regeneration is reviving the town with Councillor Lesley Mayes and Dave Benham, Regeneration Manager for Mid Suffolk District Council, on Friday 20 January at 9.30am.

David Ruffley said: 'Job creation is vitally important in order to encourage revitalisation of the area. I am delighted to be visiting not one, but two new job creators in Stowmarket Centre. I will be visiting the new Wetherspoon pub, which has created 50 new jobs, as well as the Morrisons store which has created 200 new jobs. I look forward to visiting the sites and meeting the managers as well as staff.

I will then be visiting The Mix, a state-of-the-art £5m youth facility at 127 Ipswich Street, which will open in late 2012, to meet project representatives to find out how local initiatives plan to engage with young people in Stowmarket.

Finally, I will be visiting the John Peel Centre which is a hub of cultural activity, not just for my constituency but for Suffolk as a whole. I am delighted to have the opportunity to meet project representatives and find out about the exciting plans for the coming year.'
