·         That’s an increase of 350 apprentices compared to the last year of the last Parliament.

·         The number of people starting an apprenticeship in Bury St Edmunds has increased by 47 per cent.

David Ruffley MP said:

“It is fantastic that 1,100 people in Bury St Edmunds started an apprenticeship last year. 350 more people are now benefiting from apprenticeships.

“We are getting behind people who work hard and want to get on in life. Apprenticeships are a great way to help people get the skills they need to make a better future for themselves.

“I want many more people in Bury St Edmunds to have a chance to “earn and learn” as an apprentice. I would urge everyone to think about whether they can benefit from the many apprenticeship opportunities that are now available. We have the excellent West Suffolk College in Bury St Edmunds who can give young people advice on their options”
